Review Policy

To my readers:

First of all thank you so much for your interest in reading my blog! With my book reviews I seek to be honest and fair, meaning that I aim to tell you my opinions on the content of the book without being mean spirited. Sometimes I may get heated with my opinions but I will never attack the author themselves. If there is drama or controversies surrounding the author or the book I will probably mention them in the review but I will try not to let that sway my opinion on the content.

Also, if I am sent a book by a publisher or author I will disclose that information so I can be as transparent as possible. The reviews for the books sent to me will be spoiler free but I can’t make any promises whether or not books I don’t receive for review will be spoiler free. I will make it apparent if there are spoilers though. I will also never accept compensation for reviews so they can remain my own opinions.

To Authors and Publishers:

Welcome to my blog and thank you for your interest in having me read and review your novel! I am currently accepting review requests, if you are interested in contacting me please email me at At the moment I am accepting self-published books, though that may change in the future.

Forms I Accept

I tend to prefer physical copies of books; however, I am also open to e-books (.epub and .pdf only).

Genres I Accept

I accept YA, Adult, and some Middle Grade books. I tend to be a little pickier with Middle Grade and I generally prefer Fantasy, Paranormal, and Mystery books within that audience. Within YA and Adult I accept:

  • Fantasy (love)
  • Mystery/Thriller (love)
  • Historical Fiction
  • Science Fiction
  • Chick-Lit
  • Magical Realism
  • Graphic Novel/Manga
  • Paranormal (picky)
  • Contemporary (picky)
  • Contemporary Romance (picky)

Genres I Don’t Accept

  • Romance
  • Horror
  • Non-fiction
  • Dystopian
  • Erotica
  • Poetry

In the Review Request

To make everything a little more streamlined I would like the following to be included in the request:

  • The genre and audience
  • The summary
  • The release date
  • Any relevant information
    • Trigger warnings, reasons if you think it would be a good fit based on my content, etc.
  • Format
  • Time frame
  • Additional information

Something to note: If the book is part of a series I may require the previous books.

Unless specified otherwise I will respond to every review request. It may take me up to a week to respond though as I am currently in school.

If I Accept

If I accept a request that means that I plan on reading and writing a review on it at the very least. I may include the book in other types of posts as well. This does not mean that my reading the book is an absolute. I will do my best to be timely with the review. However, as I said, I am a student and that is my priority.

If I choose to post a review I will do it at least 2 weeks before the release date. If I choose not to post a review for whatever reason, I will likely make a post explaining why and will give it to another blogger that does want it. If I foresee myself not getting around to reading the book on time I will send it to another blogger as well.

I may email you about your expectations or preferences for what I do after reviewing the ARC. I would most likely either offer it up to another blogger for review or give it to my local library.

Other than on my blog I will post the review on Goodreads, Amazon, my Instagram, and anywhere that the publisher may request. The review may change slightly depending on where it is posted to it better fits the format of that site.

Review System

★★★★★ – I loved it,

★★★★ – I liked it a lot but it didn’t hit all the right notes for whatever reason

★★★ – I liked it but noticed some issues, I have the most variance on this rating as sometimes I like the book and sometimes it’s just meh

★★ – I didn’t like it or I thought it was an ok read with a lot of issues

★ – I didn’t like it or didn’t finish it, there were a lot of issues

I also include half stars.

I will be honest with my review, meaning that if I don’t like the book I will say that. However, I will be respectful to the author and make sure it is known that my review is just my opinion. Generally, if the book is 1 or 2 stars then I might suggest ways in which the book might be enhanced. There also may be times when I do not finish a book. When that happens I will write a review of sorts with reasons as to why I did not finish it.
